Search engine optimization is really important for any website. I would say it's the most important weapon in online marketing. In this article, I will provide you with some useful search engine optimization tips.

It isn't hard and not costly at all. Many people think that you need money to get top ranking in Google, Yahoo and other major search engines. It is not true at all. 

First of all, you need to understand that search engines are programed. They follow an algorithm to rank the websites. To get a high ranking, you need to play keywords game with them.

Keywords let search engines know what your site is about. Well of course, just tagging the keywords won't give you a high ranking. But they do help the search engines to find and rank your site. For example let's say your site is on reggae music, if you don't precise it on your keywords, search engine won't be able to rank you for that category.

Dmoz and Yahoo Search Directory are the most well known directories. Dmoz is free but could take up to 6 months to get indexed. However Yahoo Directory is faster but costs around 300$. But remember your site must have quality content in order to get accepted to these directory. Getting indexed in one of these directories would do a lot of work to optimized your site for search engines.

If your budget is tight, you might just leave the option to submit your site to Yahoo Directory. But don't submit your site at least before you are done building 20+ pages.

Next... get some quality back links to your website. Social bookmarking, forums marketing and blogging are the best way to get back links. Create a discussion in a forum related to your topic and send some traffics to your website through links. search engines will see that there are a lot of back links to your website and they will rank you higher.

Every click is an asset. So more back links you have, better your search engine ranking would be. Remember it takes time to get indexed. Update your site constantly and you will see the result.

There is no secret to master SEO, you just need to follow the same old rules. There can't be any better search engine optimization tips. If you need to have success online, SEO is really important. As 80% of your traffic would come from the search engines. So work with them, not against them.

Article marketing is one of the best way to reach valuable free targeted traffic. It's really worth your time. It's really simple. Write some quality article on your topic and post it in some of the major directories. You spend nothing else but your time.

Leave a small brief description about your website with the link on the resource box. It has 2 benefits, it drives traffic and also build inbound links for your site. As you may want to know that inbound links give your site a lot of credibility. Your chances for ranking in search engines will be higher.

One well-written article published in a high PR directory can drive you hundreds of targeted visitors in a day. Most of them are returning visitors.

Ezine is the best one to publish your article on. That's the best article submission directory to my knowledge. Some webmasters get all their traffic through article marketing in Ezine. They have a Google page rank of 6 and incoming links to your site from theirs gives you a lot link popularity and credibility.

Now...some people might say "ohh I am a bad writer"...so am I. It's not a big deal. Keep in mind, you are not writing a thesis paper to get your PhD. It's just a simple piece of information on some about 250-500 words. Just write as if you are chatting with a friend on MSN but in a proper grammar.

Choose a topic, something that is related to your site. Research some profitable keywords on it, otherwise your article is an waste of time. Choose a simple title and description about your article. And also include your main keyword. Write an easily understandable article in a simple English. Don't use a researched word from a dictionary.

Best article would be somewhere from 350-400 words. Use your main keyword couple of times in your article and also its synonyms. Mix it up and your article is done. Write something informational, something that people would want to read and find it interesting.

After you submit your article, depending on the volume of submission, it might take a week for your article to come live.

Don't panic if you get rejected, improve and re-submit it. But never submit an article from another website, it will be refused right away.
